Ingredients

3-4 servings
  1. 250 gramsUrad / maash dal
  2. Salt to taste
  3. 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  4. 1 tspGinger paste
  5. Water to boil
  6. 1 Onion sliced
  7. 1 tspGarlic paste
  8. 3 Tomato medium
  9. Salt to taste
  10. 1/4 tspTurmeric
  11. 1 tspRed chili and crushed powder
  12. 1 tspCumin coriander powder
  13. 1 tspGaram Masala powder
  14. 1 tspKasuri Methi
  15. 2-3Green chili
  16. Some Ginger Julienne
  17. Green Coriander to garnish

Cooking Instructions

    Wash and soak mash dal for 4-5 hours.

  2. 2

    Boil dal with salt, turmeric and ginger paste and it should be 80 % done. Reserve dal with water.

    Heat oil in pan and golden brown the onion,add garlic paste, fry it. Add grinded tomatoes and cook.

    Add salt, chili powder, coriander, methi and cook adding little water.

    Add maash dal, add little water and cook. Sprinkle Garam Masala, cumin and green chili, ginger and put on dum.

    When done, garnish coriander. And serve hot.
