#healthyjunior - Falafels are very popular Middle Eastern snacks which can be either had as an appetizer with hummus or as a main course inside pita breads and salads. They can also be wrapped in parathas for a super wrap meal. Try serving them with some green chutney instead, a la Indian style.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupkabuli chana (white chick peas), soaked overnight
  2. to tastesalt
  3. 2 tbsp.coriander leaves, chopped
  4. 3-4cloves, garlic, chopped
  5. 1onion, chopped
  6. 1-2green chilies, chopped (opt)
  7. 1 tbsp.dry roasted coriander-cumin powder
  8. 1/2 tsp.pepper powder (opt)
  9. 1/2 tsp.red chilli powder (opt)
  10. 1 pinchbaking soda
  11. 2 tbsp.maida (plain flour)
  12. 1 tsp.lime juice
  13. oil to deep fry

Cooking Instructions

    Blend together all the above mentioned ingredients (except oil) without adding any water.

    Make small equal size balls out of the dough & refrigerate for an hour.

    Heat oil in a pan and fry the falafels in batches in low flame till light golden brown in colour.

    Drain on a kitchen towel.

  5. 5

    Serve hot as a snack with hummus or with pita bread and salad.
