Cornbeef and Cabbage (NY Style)

Ingredients

  1. 1Corned beef brisket
  2. 1pkg. spice that comes with it
  3. 3chicken bullion cubes
  4. 1/4tsp. crushed red pepper
  5. 1/4tsp. black pepper
  6. 1/4tsp. dill weed
  7. 1/4tsp. thyme
  8. 1/4tsp. mustard seed (optional)
  9. 5red potatoes halved.
  10. 2small onion, cut in eighths
  11. 1head cabbage

Cooking Instructions

    Wash meat, place in large pot and boil gently for 1 hr.

  2. 2

    Drain. Place meat back in pot with fresh water just to cover.

  3. 3

    Add all spices and bullion.

  4. 4

    Gently boil 3 more hrs.

  5. 5

    Add onion and potatoes, boil 15 mins.

  6. 6

    Remove meat and keep warm.

  7. 7

    Cut stem from cabbage but Do Not Core. Cut into eighths, then in half. Add to pot.

    Cook 15 more minutes or until desired doneness.

  9. 9

    Slice meat against grain and serve with vegetables. Don't forget the Broth!
