Cooking Instructions
- 1
Pre-heat oil in pan on medium-high heat.
- 2
Saute onions and carrots for approx 3-4 minutes
- 3
Add ground beef, mixing well until beef begins browning. Drain any fat at this stage leaving a small amount for flavour
- 4
Add garlic, peas, pepper and stock cubes. Pour over enough water just to cover mixture and mix well until stock cubes dissolve. Set on low heat and simmer for 35-40 min, stirring occasionally
- 5
While mince simmers, boil potatoes until cooked through. Drain and add the cheese, garlic, butter and milk
- 6
Mash potatoes until creamy - you may need more butter or milk. Once mashed, serve with your mince

Minced beef & onion with mash & gravy Minced beef & onion with mash & gravy
456 Cal's if listed is used or equivalent DF. My friend used to cook this years ago so I adapted my own version. Usually use butcher's beef as half the calories but more expensive. Aldi do a good lean minced beef cheap & you get 5 servings so I weigh 4 bags & freeze. Irmgard Gater -

Hamburger & Taters Hamburger & Taters
This is one of my mother in laws recipes. this is what they call it and it’s been passed down through many generations of her family here in central Florida. It’s the easiest and heartiest of meals. When we don’t know what we want, we have this. It’s so good with peas and cornbread. It’s nothing spectacular but then again it is!! SherryRandall: The Leftover Chronicles -

Mince shepherd's pie Mince shepherd's pie
This is a much simpler, straightforward version of shepherd's pie than the one featuring short ribs which I posted ages ago, and can be made in about half the time. Even so, it's still really delicious. During assembly, it may seem like there's a lot of mashed potato. I've been assured by our resident potato monarch (a.k.a. my wife, due to my Asian heritage and the fact that I grew up on rice) that the meat to mash ratio is correct. Robert Gonzal -

Vickys Scottish Stovies with Homemade Oatcakes, GF DF EF SF NF Vickys Scottish Stovies with Homemade Oatcakes, GF DF EF SF NF
Traditionally stovies were a Scottish peasants food and were made with only potato, onion and beef drippings, which were the normal leftovers or scrapings from other meals. As time has moved on, people have added different things to them and stovie recipes differ depending on which area of Scotland you're in. My grannie and in turn my mam always added leftover beef from the sunday roast and I make mine with chicken or pork for Jack. My Grannie used corned beef or sausage meat. Other people add lamb, some add vegetables, some add gravy. However you make your stovies is your choice! This is my North-East version Vicky@Jacks Free-From Cookbook -
