was craving something hardy with gravy and vegetables, this was what I came up with, was originally going to use buttered egg noodles instead of cabbage, but found I was out, also this is also a healthier alternative. I love this recipe, would also be good over mashed potatoes and with bread for dipping....i like my gravy thinner.also sorry about the vague measurements, but I dont measure unless I have to, such as baking. anyways, hope u enjoy, ill definitely be making this again.

Ingredients

  1. 1 packagessirloin thin steak
  2. 1onion
  3. 1 headof cabbage
  4. 1fresh sliced mushrooms
  5. 1salt and pepper
  6. 2 tbspbacon grease
  7. 1 1/2 cupwater
  8. 1 cupvegetable stock
  9. 1 tbspolive oil
  10. 1 packagesonion gravy mix
  11. 1garlic salt
  12. 1butter

Cooking Instructions

    boil water for cabbage, add cabbage when boiling and cover.

    heat large deep skillet to medium heat

  3. 3

    cut thin steak into 1 inch strips, add to skillet, add water, stock, bacon grease and oil. cover and let simmer

  4. 4

    cut onion into crescent moon slices, cut fresh presliced mushrooms down the middle, making them not too big not too small to hold texture.

    once all red is cooked from steak, add mushrooms and onions, season with salt pepper and garlic salt to taste. cover let simmer on medium low heat until prefered texture of onions and mushrooms.

    follow directions on gravy packet by mixing well with cold water, then add to skillet with everything else. stir well and cover. allow to simmer.

    remove pot of cabbage from stove and drain well, add butter, salt and pepper.

    remove skillet from heat

    spoon cabbage into bowl first, then spoon out meat, onions and mushrooms onto top of cabbage, pour the gravy/juice mix over top and enjoy.

I love real greek food! german and authentic mexican as well....like to eat healthy. I also love hardy foods, meat, bread, and gravy, stuff like that. my favorite fruit is mango, although im allergic I eat them anyway. I dont bake much, because I dont like to measure but iv begun experimenting with my oven as well. my favorite fish is salmon. I like spicy foods. there is only a few things I wont eat, lima beans, brussel sprout, red green or yellow bell peppers, creamed corn. I am very adventurous when it comes to trying new foods, but I wont eat anything rotten, dont do fat or bone marrow. I love hearts gizzards livers and neckbones. I love the show bizarre food with andrew zimmern....im addicted to cheesecake lol. one of my favorite meals is cajun style pork neckbones and ox tail soup with cabbage. wish to persue a culinary job or tattoo artist in the future.
