Ingredients

30 minutes
4 servings
  1. 500 gmcleaned prawns
  2. 1 cupgrated Coconut
  3. 5-6Garlic cloves
  4. 8-10Kashmiri Red Chillies
  5. 1 tspPeppercorns
  6. 1 inchCinnamon stick
  7. 2 teaspoonJeera
  8. 2 tbspCoriander seeds
  9. 3-4Cloves
  10. To marinate
  11. 1/2 tspTurmeric
  12. 1/2 tspSalt
  13. 1 tablespoonLemon juice
  14. For Curry
  15. 4 tbspOil
  16. 1big Onion finely chopped or sliced
  17. 1/2 cup Tomato chopped
  18. 2 teaspoonTamarind paste
  19. to tasteSalt
  20. 1 cupCoconut milk
  21. 2 cupsWater
  22. 2-3Green Chilies chopped

Cooking Instructions

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Dry roast spices on low heat for 2 minutes

  2. 2

    Grind roasted spices with coconut and little water to form smooth paste

  3. 3

    Marinate prawns with salt, turmeric and lemon juice for 15 minutes

  4. 4

    Heat 2 tbsp oil and fry prawns for 2 minutes. keep it aside

  5. 5

    In same pan, heat 2 tbsp oil, saute onions and green chilies until onions are translucent

  6. 6

    Add tomatoes and saute for 3 minutes

  7. 7

    Add salt, tamarind paste, 1/2 cup water and ground paste. mix well. saute and cook for 6 minutes

    Add water and prawns. simmer and cook for 3 minutes

  9. 9

    Add coconut milk and give it a stir. switch off. Do not cook after adding coconut milk.cover and rest for 15-20 minutes for flavors to blend in

  10. 10

    Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice
