Ingredients

  1. 2over ripe bananas
  2. 1 cupwheat flour
  3. 3 tbsprice flour
  4. 1/2 cupJaggery or as per sweetness
  5. 1/4 cupdessicated coconut or fresh coconut
  6. 1/2 tspbaking powder
  7. 1/4 tspbaking soda
  8. 1/2 tspcardamom powder
  9. as requiredOil for frying
  10. as requiredWater for melting the jaggery and for the batter

Cooking Instructions

    In a pan, take jaggery and water and melt the jaggery and set aside.

  2. 2

    In a bowl, take the mashed bananas, mix in the wheat flour, rice flour, baking powder, baking soda and the coconut and mix well.

    Add the jaggery water the above mixture and form the batter. Add water if required.

  4. 4

    Add in the cardamom powder and mix to a smooth batter.

  5. 5

    Take an appam pan and grease with oil. Spoon the batter in the moulds of the pan.

  6. 6

    Fry the appam till cooked on both the sides.

  7. 7

    Note: The batter can also be deep fried.
