This dish used to be especially made for my brother, on rakshabandhan and his birthday. On the occasion of rakshabandhan, I dedicate this recipe to my loving and caring brother.

Cooking Instructions

Cut the slices into triangle. Take one pan and dissolve the sugar. In the sugar add some threads of kesar and drop of lemon juice.

Now heat desi ghee in a pan and deep fry the slices. You can shallow fry them also but I like traditional shahi tukda so I always deep fry them.

Fry it until golden brown then dip it in the sugar syrup (your syrup should not be very hot and not be very cold). Soak it for 5-7 minutes then take out in a strainer so that extra sugar will drain out.

Decorate it with Lachha Rabri (see recipe), kesar and rose petals.

This was a rarity around my late older Brother, Murray. He love tuna casserole so much it was impossible most of the times to have leftovers. If there was I sneaked in the middle of the night or very early morning. Get the mayonnaise, sometimes tarter sauce or cocktail sauce, a slice of bread and get a bit of cold tuna casserole. Make a lone foldover sandwich, or a full one. Now the rarest of all were the triple lol. I was only able make one, while he was around. These can be eaten on any type of bread including rye, sourdough, and Cuban bread. Super delicious midnight snack. He would always whine and cry the blues when a dabble of the precious tuna casserole was missing. I'd be laughing and running to the hills to get away. Yes he was that serious about tuna fish!! You would have to be quick, to wolf it down, so have the bread ready. As soon as you uncover that casserole, he would smell it, wake up from a sound sleep, and start an investigation, on who is messing with HIS tuna casserole. Some old memories!!!Sometimes I would stick an empty tuna can in his room, or his old Ford Bronco. It would put him into a frenzy, lol. skunkmonkey101
