This vegetable is commonly known as Spiny Gourd. In Oriya we call it as Kankada. This is the season ,it is available in the market. It has two variety. The smaller ones are deshi . Both varieties are tasty. It's used as a vegetable in India and some part of South Asia. It has high fiber content and anti oxidants. It reduces stomach infection in monsoon and controls constipation. I like this vegetable to savour as shallow fried with potato. Dr.Madhumita Mishra -

Methi & Moong Dal Stir Fry Methi & Moong Dal Stir Fry
#greenveg - Here is a simple, yet delicious methi leaves stir fry with split moong dal. I cooked it with a tempering of panch phoron in mustard oil. I also added some vadi / dried lentil dumplings to add a crunch to the dish. I finished it off with kasundi for a mustardy taste and flavour. It is prepared dry to enjoy either with plain steamed rice or with chapatis. Bethica Das -
