Sometimes I get obsessed with one ingredient for awhile. Lately, it's sourdough starter. A little bit of natural SF airborne yeast adds a little extra to all kinds of baked goods.

Sometimes I get obsessed with one ingredient for awhile. Lately, it's sourdough starter. A little bit of natural SF airborne yeast adds a little extra to all kinds of baked goods.

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cupcold butter, diced
  2. 2 1/2 cupsall-purpose flour
  3. 1/2 cupsourdough starter
  4. 1 Tbsphoney
  5. 1 cupbuttermilk
  6. 3/4 tsp.salt
  7. 1 tsp.baking powder
  8. 1/2 tsp.baking soda

Cooking Instructions

    Cut the butter into the flour.

    Stir in the starter, the honey, and the buttermilk.

  3. 3

    Mix well and set aside in a warm place for 7-12 hours.

  4. 4

    Combine salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Sprinkle into the fermented dough as you knead it well to disperse the ingredients.

    Roll the dough to about 1" thick and cut out your biscuits however you like.

    Lay them out on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 375f for 10 minutes, then rotate the tray and bake for about 10 more minutes.
