Split Pea Soup from the Colonial Era.

this is my version of split pea soup.

A family favorite of ours. It is great soup for a cold day.

This is a very plain and very cheap soup recipe. The idea is that you can add whatever you have to make it better.

It is cold here so warm soup is great! This hearty, healthy, easy to make dinner was a huge hit amongst my family of picky eaters! I thought I would share, hope those who try it enjoy it as much as we did! Please share your pix and tips!! :-)

So... we ate this Christmas ham and there was a lot of meat leftover. I couldn’t bare to watch it get thrown away so I took it home. Could have just made some ham and cheese sandwiches or ham and potato salad but there was a bag of split peas screaming to be cooked. Now... feel free to substitute any of the vegetables... they’re basically going to be disintegrated anyway. I used what I had on hand.

So creamy & delicious. Can easily be made vegan and never lose a bit of flavor. One of my favorite foods.

A favorite growing up... If you have a ham bone handy, throw it in, although I usually just use chopped ham...
