Possibly my favorite dessert, although that is a hard call. I have been informed more than once I was bringing these to a party, not asked; I consider that a compliment.

  2. 1 1/2 cupall-purpose flour
  3. 2 tbsppacked brown sugar
  4. 1/2 cupbutter
  5. Topping
  6. 2eggs
  7. 1/2 cuppacked brown sugar
  8. 1/2 cupchopped walnuts
  9. 1/2 cupmaple syrup
  10. 2 tbspmelted butter
  11. 1 tspvanilla extract

Cooking Instructions

50 mins
  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 7x11 baking pan with aluminum foil.

  2. 2

For the crust: mix flour and brown sugar. Use a pastry cutter to cut in the butter. The dough should end up crumbly.

  3. 3

Press the dough into the bottom of the baking pan to form an even layer and bake for 15 minutes.

  4. 4

In a clean bowl use a whisk to break up the eggs and combine them with the brown sugar. Mix in the walnuts, maple syrup, melted butter and vanilla extract.

  5. 5

Pour the topping over the crust and bake for 25 minutes or until set.

  6. 6

Cool on a wire rack. It is easiest to cut into squares while still warm. Cover and store in the refrigerator.
