My Dearest BBQ Sauce My Dearest BBQ Sauce
I am never satisfied with bottled sauces; either too sweet or too much tomato in it or just something....I just straight up picky. So, I decided to come up with something of my own that wasn't too sweet, too spicy, too vinegary, and didn't have tomato. SCORE!(if you want this thicker you can do so with some cornstarch.) Fried Eggplant in Spicy Coconut Milk Sauce (FOFOKI) Fried Eggplant in Spicy Coconut Milk Sauce (FOFOKI)
FOFOKI is what the Ternate people call eggplant smothered in a spicy coconut milk sauce. Eggplants are cut and then cooked by frying, baking or steaming and then covered with coconut milk sauce. The savory taste of coconut combined with just the right spicy seasoning and crunchy eggplant is great. The history of how FOFOK originated is not known, but the dish has been known since long time by the people of North Maluku (especially Ternate). Note: I did not include photos when sautéing the sauce because the steam and smoke made the images not turn out... Dapoer-Indonesia @ us -
Meatballs in tomato and coconut sauce Meatballs in tomato and coconut sauce
I'm pretty sure that my ability to cook is one of the keys to my marriage. In fact, I'm not 100% certain my wife would've agreed to marry me if it weren't for my passion for food and cooking. Still, that doesn't mean she doesn't occasionally have her doubts. Like when I told her I was going to make meatballs with tomato and coconut sauce for dinner. At first she assumed it'd be a curry, and when I told her it wouldn't be she simply said "it sounds a little weird." Fortunately the dish worked out (pretty brilliantly, actually), and both she and our daughter are believers once again. Robert Gonzal -

Hot Dog Chili Sauce Hot Dog Chili Sauce
Hot dogs at home never seem to taste as good as the ones we can get at a local hot dog stand. You know, the ones with the steamed buns that are wrapped in the white paper - and the paper turns orange from the chili.... yum! This recipe isn't about quality ingredients or nutrition, (let's face it, eating a hot dog is never about nutrition) but it is about getting that "hot dog stand" flavor at home. NCCook -
