We called this dish as Kuey Teow Basah back In sabah. This version of Wat Tan Hor is the simplest one. It is also a Fishytarian Version 😅🐟, means no meat, but fish product. This one is inspired by one of my friend 🌺

7-8 sajian
  1. Fried Kuey Teow
  2. 500grm of Kuey Teow
  3. Five cloves od Garlics (Finely Chopped)
  4. Two tablespoons of Osyter Sauce
  5. One tablespoon of Thick Soy sauce
  6. 100 mlof water (to dissolve Osyter sauce and soy sauce)
  7. Oil for frying (I used 5 tablespoons)
  8. For Egg Gravy
  9. Handful of Anchovies
  10. 5Cloves of Garlics (Finely Chopped)
  11. A pack of Fishballs
  12. A pack of Fishcakes
  13. Any leafy vegetables (Spinach / Sawi / Romaine Lettuce)
  14. Two eggs (Lightly beaten)
  15. 1Litter water
  16. Three tablespoons of Corn Flour
  17. Salt & Pepper

Cara Memasak

  1. 1

    For fried kuey teow. Dissolve Osyter sauce and soy sauce in a bowl with 100ml of water.

    Heat up the pan and put the oil. Toss in the Garlics and fry it till yelowish. Put the kuey teow in and fry for few minutes.

    When frying the noodles, make sure it covered with a little bit much of oil to avoid the noodles from sticking. Put in the mixture of sauce and fry the noodles for another few minutes.

    For the fried noodles, we only want to incorporate the sauce to the noodles. No need to fry it for long time. Take it out from the pan once u see the sauce has covered the noodles. Set aside.

    Fried the Anchovies and Garlics. While frying, boil water for the gravy in another pot.

    Once anchovies and garlics are finely fried, take it out and put in the boiling water. Let this soup base boil for at least 45 minutes. (The gravy is the main thing here. You get the soup right, then it is good to go). Long time boil to get the essence of fried anchovies and garlics to the soup base. When it is ready, you can literally smell the soup lingering in the air 😅😊.

    After that, put in the fishcakes and fishballs into the soup. (There is no rules how much meat or fish product u wanna put. Up to individual. Like me tamak haloba, i put one packet each 😅). Let it simmer for a while.

    Once it is boil, dissolve the corn flour in a bowl w some water. P/s please dont ulang my past years kebodohan by putting the flour straight to the soup 😅, because u will get undissolved flour. Any kind of flour to be put in a gravy or soup, has to be dissolved in a water first before putting.

    The flour is to thicken the gravy. U shud be getting a thicker gravy after putting the flour mixture. Let it boil again.

    Once it is boil, take a laddle and make a circle motion in the pot. Slowly Put in the beaten eggs from highest point. Add in salt and pepper to your liking.

    Let it boil again then u can put in your leafy vegetables. I used spinach and romaine lettuce. I like my greens a bit raw, so i only put the veges near to eating time 😁. When serve, put is some fried noodles on a plate and put gravy on top.
