Salted Brown Butter Butterscotch Bars

Adapted from Sally's Baking Addiction to use less sugar.

I made the batter the day before and baked it the next day. Can't compare with the original recipe but this was delicious but greasy. Maybe less butter? A bit crumbly, not sure if due to reduced sugar, but still plenty sweet.

Ingredients

  1. 250 gAPF
  2. 1 tspbaking powder
  3. 1/2 tspsalt
  4. 230 gunsalted butter, browned
  5. 280 gbrown sugar
  6. 1whole egg plus 1 yolk
  7. 1/2 cupbutterscotch morsels, mine melted in the sun
  8. 2 tspvanilla extract
  9. Salt, for sprinkling on top
  10. 95 gWalnuts, chopped (optional)

Cooking Instructions

    Mix wet and dry ingredients separately, thrn combine.

    Fold in butterscotch chips and walnuts if using.

  3. 3

    Evenly spread in prepared 8x8 inch pan. Sprinkle salt.

    Bake in preheated 170 degree Celsius oven for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.

    Let cool around 10 minutes before cutting. It tastes super delicious but a bit too buttery when still warm.
