Ingredients

  1. For Sambar
  2. 1 cupTuvar Dal
  3. 1 cupOnion chopped
  4. 2Tomato chopped
  5. 1 tspLemon juice
  6. 1/2 tspGinger garlic paste
  7. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  8. 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  9. 2 tspCurry leaves
  10. 2 tspCoriander leaves for garnishing
  11. to tasteSalt
  12. 1 tspSambhar masala
  13. 1/4 tspTurmeric powder
  14. 1/2 tspRed chilli powder
  15. 1/2 tspGaram masala
  16. For idli
  17. 2 cupsSemolina (sooji)
  18. 1/2 cupCurd
  19. 1Eno pouch

Cooking Instructions

    First wash the Dal with water and soak it in water for 2 hours.

    Put Dal in pressure cooker and add water, salt and turmeric powder to it. Cook it till three whistles.

    Take a pan and add oil to it heat it and add mustard seeds and jeera then add onion to it.

    Saute it till onion turns pink then add tomato and all the vegetables which you need in sambar. Cook it by covering it with a lid on low flame.

    Add all the spices like chilli powder,garam masala, sambar masala.

    Open the pressure cooker and mash the dal and add the prepared tadka to it. Add water according to consistency for sambar.

    And lemon juice and coriander leaves to it.

    For Idli ; we have to soak sooji in curd and water for at least two hours. Add salt also.

    Now make the batter consistency for idli, add eno and make the idlis in idli maker.

    Your hot spicy IDLI SAMBHAR is ready to serve.
