My mom sometimes used to put umeboshi in rice, and made these rice balls to beat the summer heat. Add different ingredients for new variations.

The saltiness differs among umeboshi, add salt to taste.
Rice made in a pressure cooker becomes mochi-like when cooled.

Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 1 1/2~ 4 rice cooker cups Rice
  2. 1amount needed for making rice Water
  3. 1to 2 Salted plum
  4. Ingredients for 4 big rice balls
  5. 1start with1 1/2 rice cooker cups of rice Rice cooked with umeboshi
  6. 2leaves Shiso leaves (stems removed and finely cut)
  7. 1 tbspToasted sesame seeds
  8. 1 1/2 tbspChirimen jako (semi-dried salted tiny sardines)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Mince the umeboshi Leave the pits. Cook rice like you normally do, but with the umeboshi.

  2. 2

    When the rice is cooked, remove the pits, and mix.

  3. 3

    For rice balls, mix the ingredients marked with and shape. Done.
