My children love meat sauce. If you use canned chopped tomatoes, you can make meat sauce easily. It can be used on pasta, in gratin and many other things. It can be frozen too.

Ingredients

4 servings

200 gramsGround meat
1of each Onion and carrot
1 canCanned chopped tomatoes
1 pieceJapanese curry roux
1cube Soup stock cube
1 pinchSalt and pepper
90 gramsPasta (per serving)
1Grated cheese

Cooking Instructions

Finely chop the onion and carrot.

Sauté the ground meat in a pan. Add the chopped vegetables and continue sautéeing. Add the canned tomatoes and soup cube and simmer.

After simmering over low heat, add the curry roux and season with salt and pepper.

Cook the pasta, top with the meat sauce and grated cheese, and serve.

Its summertime and I wanted to make a lentil dinner. Usually I make Lentil Stew but its too hot for that. So I wanted to do something else. I found this recipe in my Forks Over Knives cookbook called Spaghetti with Lentil Ragu. This "meat" sauce is based on that recipe. The recipe calls for diced tomatoes but I chose a can of crushed tomatoes to make a sauce. I also put the lentils through a blender to make the lentils more ground meat like . Topping it with cheddar cheese really finished it off perfectly. I hope you'll like it as much as my family did.
