I really like the taste of the garlic-soy sauce shiso leaves with cream cheese. I wanted to make easy finger food using Christmas colors.

I really like the taste of the garlic-soy sauce shiso leaves with cream cheese. I wanted to make easy finger food using Christmas colors.

Cooking Instructions

Slice the cream cheese into 1 cm cuts. Wrap the cheese with the prepared shiso leaves and cut in half.

Remove the steams from the mini tomatoes and slice horizontally. Cube the avocado.
- 3
Skewer the avocado, tomato, and cheese on a cocktail pick and plate.
- 4
If you want, drizzle a little garlic-soy sauce marinade and lemon juice before serving.

I was put in charge of making hors d'oeuvres for our potluck New Year's party, so I made these.There were tons of other dishes on the table, so I made them compact and colorful.They were perfect for enjoying in a big noisy crowd.If you want the pinchos to stand up straight, instead of skewering everything on the picks before lining them up, place the component that will be on the bottom on the serving plate first, skewer all the other components, then stick the pick through the element on the plate. I worked for a travel business that loved having themed pot-luck parties throughout the year. I wound up being one of the last ones to sign up for a Mexican-themed Christmas Party. The only 2 categories left were desserts and appetizers. I so was not going to do desserts for 100+ people! So I came up with this queso dip using pantry items and fresh sausage. I brought in 2 old Tupperware Fix-n-Mix bowls of tortilla chips and a double batch of queso, one with green chilies and one with jalapeños. This is what i made for Christmas last year. I used to make it with ordinary mashed potatoes, but this time I added cream cheese for richness.Add cream cheese while the potato is still hot, so that it melts while mashing. You don't have to make the mashed potatoes totally smooth, so a wooden spatula is fine. The flavors become muted when the potato has cooled, so add a bit more salt and pepper than you normally would.
