Cooking Instructions

FOR THE DOUGH
Sift the flour and baking powder in a bowl and add a pint of salt if desired - 2
Add the butter and mix till it forms crumbs

Add the water and mix till it forms a thick dough.

Keep aside to rest.

FOR THE FILLING
Boil the potatoes and carrots and chop into desired sizes.
Note :not too large or the dough will strip open while filling. - 6
In a pan add the oil and let it heat.

Add the onions and let it fry till it's golden brown.

Add the peppers and let to sauté

Add the potatoes,carrots,minced meat,stock cubes and salt and mix properly.
Note:If the filling is too thick add a little water and if it's too watery mix flour with water and add to the mixture. - 10
PREPARATION
On a flat surface sprinkle flour and roll the dough to a semi thick size. - 11
Use a circle cutter to cut out as many circles as possible.

Put the filling in the center of the dough.
Note: Don't put in too much. - 13
Join the two edges of the circle together and press down with a fork to form the crust.

Put on an oiled baking tray or parchment paper.

Break the egg and whisk

Use a brush and apply the egg on the pies

Bake on low heat for 30 minutes

Hi guys, I hope you are all well….I am trying to get myself organised again, and as they say trying to get into the groove of things. hahahaha. I thought I would start off the morning by taking Charlie for a nice long walk with a good friend and her dog. I kept bumping into the poor woman because Charlie is young and he wants to play with her dog who wanted to play too but due to a bit of small I won’t say big knee problem I was worried he might throw her down on the ground. We had a great walk laughed and talked and so enjoy her company. The weather started out foggy but turned into a beautiful day with sun and actually warm. 🙂I had already decided what I was going to make today so the ingredients were waiting for me on the kitchen counter. 🙂 Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make my own Tomato sauce like I usually do, because our local supermarket did not have the rest of the ingredients I needed, so I used a store bought Tomato sauce which is just as good. Pies or Pites are a tradition in Greece, if not every week at least every other week you would always have some sort of Pita, that being Spinach pie, or Cheese or Meat pie, 🙂 so today I made this fantastic Pasta pie with a variety of vegetables. The best part about this pie is that you can make this mixture the previous day and leave in the fridge overnight of course without adding the eggs.I hope you enjoy this recipe :) Foodzesty -

It’s like Shepherds Pie (which is made with ground lamb) but made with ground beef. Enough here for 2 casseroles - one for tonight and one to freeze for a later date. There are some cheats - I use Costco mashed potatoes (doctored up) for the topping but feel free to use fresh mashed potatoes. A meaty delicious complete meal. True shepherd's pie made with lamb, and no cheese. Not to be mistaken for cottage pie made with beef. In restaurants here in America when I see shepherd's pie on the menu i have to ask is it real shepherd's pie made with lamb? 99% of the time "ah no sir it made with beef." My reply what a shame could you change the name to it's real name cottage pie? Even in Irish and British restaurants this happens.
