Spare Ribs Simmered in Coke

I often make this when we want a hearty meal.
I used to make this a lot when the children were small, but these days I cook chicken drumettes with this method for Christmas.
You can use any kind of coke, even diet-coke!
Chicken wings are delicious cooked this way too.
You don't have to use bone-in meat either, a block of meat should be OK (as long as you don't mind if the meat falls apart).
The flavor will be quite rich and salty, so adjust by how much you reduce the sauce. For 3 to 4 servings. Recipe by cafe-cafe

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Rub the salt and pepper into the spare ribs and leave for a while. If the weather is hot, put them in the refrigerator.
- 2
Put the spare ribs in one layer in a large pot, and add enough coke to cover. Simmer over medium heat. When the coke comes to a boil, skim off the scum carefully.
- 3
When most of the scum has been removed, add the ○ flavoring ingredients, cover with a small lid (a drop lid or otoshibuta) and simmer over medium-low heat for more than 30 minutes.
- 4
Take the meat out and reduce the sauce in the pan over high heat. When the sauce has thickened, return the spare ribs to the pot and coat in the sauce.
- 5
These are chicken wings cooked in the same way.

Chicken Spare Ribs Simmered in Ume Jam Chicken Spare Ribs Simmered in Ume Jam
I usually simmer spare ribs in marmalade, but since I was making my yearly ume juice, I had a lot of ume jam leftover. So instead of using marmalade, I used ume jam. They came out refreshing and delicious. If you don't have the time, just throw in the chicken, jam, soy sauce, and sake all at one and bring it to a boil (although browning the chicken is more delicious)! Simmered Spare Ribs in Red Wine Sauce (with a pressure cooker) Simmered Spare Ribs in Red Wine Sauce (with a pressure cooker)
This was a recipe that my mother used to make in a regular pot. A pressure cooker makes it easier to make. Besides, you don't need to sauté the onion to bring out the sweetness. My mother made it often when we had guests. She must have had confidence in it.If you don't have a pressure cooker, add water to cover the ingredients at Step 2-3, and simmer in a heavy pot for 1 to 1.5 hours. It's preferred that you sauté the onion until golden brown in this case.If there is leftover sauce, use it to dip a piece of bread in or it can be a pasta sauce as well.
