Spiced Poached Pear

Bianca Mwale @bianca_eatsy
Cooked fruit is heartwarming, I cannot be convinced otherwise 😊
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Place pears and all ingredients in a shallow pot.
- 2
Cut a round piece of parchment to the size of the pot, fold in half and cut out a small round piece to create an opening. Place over the contents of the pot. I learnt that this keeps the fruit submerged and keeps the sugar from foaming to the top
- 3
Bring to boil and reduce the heat to medium-low to simmer until pears are tender and the liquid boils down and thickens to syrup. Depending on the size of pairs, this will take 30 - 45 minutes
- 4
Serve warm or refrigerate until chilled. I served mine warm with greek yogurt and some of the syrup

#reststyle #goldenapronPoached Pear, the classic French dessert is such a delightfully flavorful, very elegant and impressive. It has a great balance of sweet, spice and fruity flavors, and the deep red colour turns this into a beautiful centerpiece dessert too. I have slightly modified my recipe so that it can be served to kids as well.Poached Pears make a fantastic dinner party dessert and can be prepared in advance. Pears have such a mild flavour that you need to use spice in a considered way to complement their fabulous taste.

Poached Pears Almond Cake
I decided to poach my pears the "Poire belle Hélène way" in a spiced syrupy water for more depth of flavors. Beautiful isn't it? I noticed that the pears in most of the pear cake loaf recipes weren't cored. I wonder how they eat the pear cakes. I of cos cleaned the bottom and cored the pears with a melon baller. If you don't have a melon baller, you can use a small sharp knife. Be sure not to damage the pears. In closing, I really hope you will give this recipe a try.

Easy Pear Compote
I've loved pears since I was a child. They are delicious fresh, but I wanted to use them when cooking both sweet and savory dishes, so I made a compote.Since the pears will be simmered, choose pears that are on the firm side. You can serve the compote with ice cream, chop it up and put it in yogurt, or use it for hors d'oeuvres, tarts and other sweets. Recipe by Usagi no Cima.

When I used this season's pears, it turned out more tasty than I expected. For the custard cream, you can use just 1 egg, or add the remaining 1/2 egg from the pastry dough.Adjust the amount of sugar depending on the sweetness of your pears.Substitute with canned pears or your choice of seasonal fruit.Chill in the refrigerator before serving. Asian Pear Caramel and Rum Confit
Shinkou-nashi variety Asian pears are huge, and weigh more than 1000 g per fruit. My husband and I couldn't finish one between the two of us, so I cooked the leftover half to top plain yogurt. This is really easy, and healthy too. You just need 6 grams of granulated sugar for the caramel. You only need one pan for this. After mixing the pear, caramel and rum sauce, cover with a piece of aluminum foil and let the flavors permeate the pear with residual heat. We like to have it on plain yogurt sprinkled with cinnamon powder. Recipe by Ekekohonnpo
