Sambal (Chili Pepper Paste) Sambal (Chili Pepper Paste)
This is a condiment that we always keep in the refrigerator at my house.Any remaining seeds will result in a poor texture, and will make the sambal very spicy. Be sure to carefully filter them out. Switching the food processor or blender on and off should help the ingredients blend more quickly. You can use the soaking water on the plants in your garden as an effective insect repellent. "We start by making a less-oily, less-salty, less-sweet version of Nam Prik Pao or Thai chili jam.""We’ve switched it up for one of the best sweeteners on the planet: Date sugar.""Dried dates are a storehouse of vitamins, antioxidants and phytonutrients."Ramp up the heat and explosive flavor with a handy jar of chili jam like this. "Sweet and spicy with a hint of sour... Sambal Tumis is a chili paste that's also a bedrock of culture. It is Ground Zero and the starting point to understand all regional flavors.""Sambal Tumis can be broken down into a chili condiment (the 'Sambal' part) that is fried until fragrant (the 'Tumis' part)."Best eaten alongside a plate of aromatic coconut rice like Malaysian Nasi Lemak or with a good curried vegetable stew like Indonesian Sayur Lodeh. For this health-conscious version, we use mineral-rich date sugar and palm sugar in place of normal white sugar as the main sweetening agents. Antibacterial honey is also added as a mild preservative. TEDDYTOK -
Sweet and spicy chilli sauce Sweet and spicy chilli sauce
This is a sweet yet spicy tomato sauce that I like to add to my chilli. You could put it on anything you wanted too really but it's a really good fit when mixed into a chilli I think. If you don't want the sweetness to it simply substitute the 9 roma tomatoes with 4 beefsteak tomatoes and leave out the brown sugar entirely. When prepping the peppers don't include the bell peppers' seeds into the mixture however, do include the habanero seeds. Ticsen Vorel -
