Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cupmelted butter
  2. 1/4 cupCocoa Powder
  3. 1 cupUnflavoured Applesauce
  4. 1 cupAll-Purpose Flour
  5. 1 cupGranulated Sugar
  6. 3/4 tspBaking Soda
  7. 1 tspGround Cinnamon
  8. 1 tspGround Nutmeg
  9. 1 tspSalt
  10. 1Egg, Slightly Beaten
  11. 1/2 cupChopped Nuts (optional)
  12. 1/2 cupRaisins (optional)

Cooking Instructions

    Heat oven to 350. Grease 9-inch baking ban.

    In small bowl, combine butter and cocoa, stirring until smooth; stir in applesauce.

    In a separate bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon nutmeg and salt.

    Add cocoa mixture and egg; stir until dry ingredients are moistened.

    If used, add nuts and raisins. Spread batter into prepared pan.

    Bake for 28-30 minutes or until a wooden toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire rack.

    Sprinkle on powdered sugar if desired.
