Ingredients

  1. formasala powder:
  2. 2 spoonsurad dal
  3. 2 spoonschanadal
  4. 1 spoondhaniya powder
  5. 2cloves
  6. 1 inchcinnamon
  7. 2cardamom pods
  8. 1marathi moggu
  9. 5red chillies (adjust according to spice)
  10. 3 spoonsdry coconut
  11. 2onions sliced/ 10 shallots baby onions
  12. 2tomatoes cubed
  13. 1 spoonTamarind paste
  14. as requiredSalt as required
  15. 2 spoonsoil
  16. 1 spoonghee
  17. 1 cuprice
  18. 1/2 cuptoor dal
  19. 1 spoonMoong Dal
  20. 6 cupswater
  21. 1/2 tspMustard seeds
  22. fewCurry leaves
  23. forVeggies:
  24. as requiredCarrot, beans, potato, chayote, green peas, Drumstick

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Add the ingredients of the masala powder except dry coconut into a pan and roast it until golden colour with a spoon of oil. In a mixer jar first grind dry coconut and then add the roasted ingredients and grind it to a fine powder.

    Wash and Cut all the veggies as shown in the pic. Into a pressure cooker add in oil and mustard seeds and let it splutter. Now add in the sliced onions, curry leaves and sauté.

    Add in all the veggies, tomatoes and green peas and fry for 2 minutes. Add in the Tamarind paste and sauté.

    Add in the masala powder and mix well. Now add in the washed rice and dal to it and add required amount of salt. Add the water and a spoon of ghee and pressure cook it for 2 whistles.

    Allow the pressure to release and mix it up. Serve it hot with Aloo chips and Kara Boondi or Appalam.
