Ingredients

4-6 servings
  1. 1.5 cupsUrad Dal (White)
  2. 1/2 cupDhuli Moong Dal (Yellow)
  3. 1/4 cupArhar Dal
  4. 1/4 cupChana Dal
  5. 1/4 tspAsafoetida Powder
  6. 8-10Peppercorns
  7. 2cloves
  8. 1.5 inchginger piece, peeled
  9. 2-3Green Chillies
  10. 10-12roughly chopped Curry Leaves
  11. 2 tbspchopped fresh Coriander Leaves
  12. 2finely chopped Onions
  13. 2 tbspRice Flour (optional)
  14. to tasteSalt
  15. as requiredOil to fry

Cooking Instructions

    Wash & soak all the Dals in some water for 6 hours.

    Drain, reserve the water.

  3. 3

    Add dal mix in a mixer jar, ginger, peppercorns, cloves, green chillies, asafoetida, salt, just a little of the reserved water. Grind till smooth in batches.

    Add chopped onions, curry leaves and coriander leaves, mix. If the batter is a little runny, you can add 2 tbsp rice flour.

    Deep fry small blobs of the ready batter in hot oil on medium heat till golden brown & crisp.

    Serve hot. Enjoy with Chutney of choice or Ketchup.
