Beef and Onion in Gravy

Delicious filling for a pie or cottage pie

Ingredients

  1. 1 kgMinced Steak
  2. 2Large Onions (finely diced)
  3. 1 CupPeas
  4. 1 Cupfinely diced carrots
  5. 1 CupFrozen Sweetcorn
  6. 1 litreWater
  7. 3Beef Stock Cubes
  8. 1Chicken Stock Cube
  9. 4 tspthickener (ie. Flour or cornflour)
  10. 1/4 tspSalt
  11. 1/4 tspPepper
  12. Gravy Browning

Cooking Instructions

    Gently fry off the onions on a low heat until softened.

  2. 2

    Add beef and fry until cooked

  3. 3

    Add 1 Cup Peas, 1 Cup Sweetcorn, 1 Cup finely Chopped Carrots.

    Dissolve stock Cubes (3 Beef & 1 Chicken) in 1 litre of hot water. Add to Beef.

    Simmer for 15 mins.

  6. 6

    Add gravy Browning according to required colour.

  7. 7

    Mix thickener (of choice) with a little water and pour into the meat and veg mix. Allow to simmer and thicken. You can add more or less thickener according to preference. Stir gently to prevent sticking.

    Add 1/4 tsp Salt & 1/4 tsp Pepper (according to taste).

    Serve with mashed potato, as a pie filling, or Cottage Pie filling.
