Ingredients

1hr 15mins
14 cookies
  1. 55 gunsalted butter, softened
  2. 75 gbrown sugar
  3. 28 ggranulated sugar
  4. 1/2large egg, beaten
  5. 1 tspvanilla extract
  6. 170 gplain flour
  7. 1 tspcornstarch
  8. 1/2 tspbaking soda
  9. 1/8 tspsalt (optional, for taste)
  10. 200 gchocolate chips

Cooking Instructions

1hr 15mins
  1. 1

In a large bowl, add in softened butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar, then cream them together with a hand mixer.

  2. 2

Add in 1/2 beaten egg, vanilla extract and salt. Mix well.

  3. 3

Add in plain flour, cornstarch and baking soda, then gently fold the mixture.

  4. 4

As the cookie dough begins to form, I used my hands to ensure all ingredients are combined thoroughly. This step took around 5 mins.

  5. 5

Add in chocolate chips and mix together.

  6. 6

Scoop 1 tbsp of the cookie dough then shape it into a ball. This recipe makes 14 chocolate chip cookies.

  7. 7

Wrap the cookie dough balls with cling film and chill them in the fridge for 30 mins.

  8. 8

Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).

  9. 9

After 30 mins, place the cookie doughs on a baking tray lined with baking sheet.

  10. 10

Bake in oven for 8-10 mins. Don’t bake for longer than 10 mins as the cookies will harden as they cool down.

  11. 11

After baking, transfer the cookies on a cooling rack and let them cool for 5 mins

  12. 12

Look at those layers with melted chocolate chips! Serve them warm with a cup of fresh milk - a perfect combo!
