Slow Cooker Apple Butter

Great way to use up apples. I use Norlands from our neighbor's tree but you can use any kind.
Slow Cooker Apple Butter
Great way to use up apples. I use Norlands from our neighbor's tree but you can use any kind.
Steps
- 1
Place the apples in a slow cooker. In a medium bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, cloves & salt. Pour the mixture over the apples in the slow cooker & mix well.
- 2
Cover & cook on high for 1 hour.
- 3
Reduce heat to low & cover 9 to 11 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened & dark brown.
- 4
Uncover & continue cooking on low 1 hour or longer depending on how thick you want it. Stir with a whisk, if desired, to increase smoothness (or use immersion blender).
- 5
If you want to keep in jars for future - place jars & lids in boiling water. One at a time, spoon hot mixture in a jar & immediately place lid on top to seal.
- 6
Or... just put in jars & refrigerate. Can be spread on toast, bagels, etc.
