Ingredients

30 minutes
6 servings
  • 1 cupBroken Wheat (daliya)
  • 2 tbspYellow Moong Dal (optional)
  • 2 tbspGhee
  • 1 tspCardamom Powder
  • 1 tbspFresh coconut pieces
  • as requiredCashews and Raisins
  • 3/4 cupJaggery
  • 1.5 cupCoconut Milk

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Heat a pressure cooker with a tbsp of ghee. Roast the broken wheat and moong dal for a minute. Pour 2 cup of water and cook for 3-4 whistles.

  2. 2

    Take another pan with jaggery and half a cup of water. Boil the jaggery until dissolved completely.
    When cool, strain and keep aside.

  3. 3

    Now open the pressure cooker and add the jaggery syrup to the cooked broken wheat mix and boil until they incorporate well and gets a little thick in consistency.

  4. 4

    Now add the coconut milk and switch off the flame after the first boil.

  5. 5

    Heat the remaining ghee and roast the coconut pieces, cashews and raisins separately and pour it to the Kheer/Payasam.
    Add the cardamom powder, mix well and serve hot or chilled.
