Ingredients

  1. For masala bhat:-
  2. 3/4 cuprice
  3. 2 tablespoonsoil
  4. 1 teaspoonghee
  5. 1 teaspoonmustard seeds
  6. 1 teaspooncumin seeds
  7. 2cloves
  8. 2green cardamom
  9. 1bay leaf
  10. 1Small piece of cinnamon
  11. 1 teaspoonginger garlic paste
  12. 1potato cut into cubes
  13. 1chopped onion
  14. 1chopped tomato
  15. 2small brinjal (ravaiya)
  16. 1chopped small carrot
  17. 2-3 tablespoonsgreen peas
  18. to tasteSalt
  19. 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder
  20. 1 tablespoonred chilli powder
  21. 1 teaspoongaram masala powder
  22. Formasala bhakhri:-
  23. 2 cupswheat flour
  24. to tasteSalt
  25. 3/4 teaspoonturmeric powder
  26. 1 tablespoonred chilli powder
  27. 1 teaspoonajwain
  28. 1 tablespoonoil

Steps

  1. 1

    For masala bhat, wash and soak rice for 20 minutes in water. In small pressure cooker heat oil and ghee. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon piece, cardamom and bay leaf. When crackles add chopped onion and ginger-garlic paste. Saute for sometimes. Add chopped tomato, potato, brinjal, carrot and green peas. Saute for a couple of minutes.

    Add soaked rice (without water) and saute for sometimes. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and garam masala powder. Add 2 and 1/2 cup water. Mix well.

    Cover with lid and cook till 3-5 whistles. Masala bhat is ready. Serve with curd.

    Knead slightly soft dough of wheat flour, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, ajwain and enough water. Make balls and roll out roti. Roast both sides with oil on hot tawa.
