Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to fan 150°
- 2
Slice potatoes into thin slices and parboil them. Drain/dry.
- 3
Crush the garlic and rub the baking tray with the clove. (Optional) mince the crushed garlic and leave in the tray.
- 4
Heat the cream without boiling. Add sliced potatoes to a deep tray in layers. Each layer should be applied with warm cream and seasoned very lightly with salt and pepper.
- 5
Dust the nutmeg evenly as possible over the layered potatoes and do the same with a handful of cheese.
- 6
Add small cubes of butter all over the top. The smaller the better.
- 7
Cover with foil and bake fire at least an hour. (Optional) turn on the grill or high heat to brown the top.
- 8
Serve.
