Ingredients

  1. Dal
  2. 3/4 cupwhole black urad dal / sabut urad dal
  3. 1/4 cupkidney beans/rajma
  4. 3 cupswater for pressure cooking
  5. to tastesalt
  6. 1-2 tbspghee
  7. 1bay leaf
  8. 2large tomatoes finely chopped
  9. 1 tspginger-garlic paste
  10. 1/2 tspTurmeric powder
  11. 1 onion
  12. 1 tspcoriander powder
  13. 1/2 tspcumin powder
  14. 1 tspkashmiri chilli powder
  15. 1 cupwater
  16. 2 tbspfresh cream
  17. 2 tspcoriander leaves chopped
  18. 3/4 tspkashmiri red chilli powder
  19. 1/4 tspgaram masala

Cooking Instructions

    Soak black urad dal and rajma overnight. Add enough water.

  2. 2

    Rinse the dal and with 3 cups of water cook it in a cooker. Also add salt to taste.

    Take 5 whistles on medium flame.

    Heat ghee in a pan. Saute bay leaf, followed by onions.

  5. 5

    Once the onions become brown add ginger-garlic paste.

  6. 6

    Then add tomatoes and cook for a few minutes.

    Add turmeric, coriander, cumin and chilli powder. Then put salt to taste.

    Cook till the water separates. dd cooked dal and mix it properly.

    Give the dal a good boil for 15 minutes. And add water as required to maintain the consistency.

    To give the dal a smooth texture, add fresh cream.

    You can also add garam masala (optional).
