Homemade beer battered Fish and chips

Who doesn't like Fish and chips once in a while, as a child we used to have fish and chips every Friday, it was very cheap them days and there were many types of fish to choose from, but over the years, with fish in the sea,, being over fished the price of going out to get fish and chips have got expensive, so I thought I would share my homemade Fish and chip recipe for those of you on a very tight budget.

Peel, slice and cut potatoes into chips,

Place chips into a bowl of water to get starch out.

In a large bowl pour in 115 grams of plain, flour, add 1rsp of baking powder, add 150 of light beer or lager, add a pinch of salt and pepper. Give this a good whisk and leave to stand.

Find a container put some seasoned flour in and put one fillet in at a time, put the lid on the container and give it a shake until covered, place covered fish peices on a clean plate.

Heat up your oil.placing your chips into the pan, make sure you pat dry your chips before putting then in the pan, cook them for ten minutes they should be light gold in colour, then remove and put them on a flat baking tin.

Take your fish and dip in beer batter making sure excess batter runs off, gently lower into hot oil and fry for six to 8 minutes until golden brown.

When the fish is golden brown remove.

Reads chips into the oil to bring them to a golden colour 3 minutes.

Assemble the plate, adding peas, if you so wish.
