This one is an extremely popular dish here in my City and is very much similar to the other most famous dish known as Baghare Baingan. It's nearly the same with just the addition of Fish pieces that are partially fried, fully fried or even raw in place of Brinjals. Therefore it can also be called as Kachche Masale Wala Machli ka Salan. The process is quite easy and done with a few spices and the ground masala paste. It's a bit tangy with freshly ground masalas that are first roasted and then blended into a fine paste.
I have added Poppy Seeds also just like my mom. You can skip it if desired. This is the most delectable Fish gravy for sure and you will love it's melt in mouth texture of the Fish pieces after being simmered in this gravy. Let's get down to the recipe right away.

Steps
- 1
First of all, saute Onions until light brown. Keep aside. Use just about a teaspoon of Oil. Similarly dry roast Coconut, Sesame Seeds and Peanuts until done. Set them aside too. Add all of them to a blender along with Poppy Seeds and blend into a fine paste. Keep it aside until use.
- 2
Heat Oil in a Lagan (A Hyderabadi special vessel that is broad). Add Mustard and Cumin Seeds both. Let them crackle a bit before adding the Green Chillies and Curry Leaves. Fry all for a minute and then add the blended paste into it followed by the powdered spices one by one. Mix well and let it cook on a low heat until the masalas get roasted well.
- 3
To this cooked masalas, add properly squeezed Tamarind juice along with lightly fried Fish. If desired, the pieces can be fully fried also. Cover and simmer just until the Tamarind juice gets cooked for about 15 minutes or so. Adjust Salt according to taste and garnish with chopped Coriander Leaves too.

Serve this hot with plain boiled Rice to your loved ones. You will definitely love this Fish Gravy in Hyderabadi style. Yum!
