Totoro Rice Balls

I wanted to make a Totoro! You can make this out of any mixed rice you like.
You can also use nori for the whiskers if you like. Feel free make substitutions for any of the ingredients if you need. (Recipe by Mai*Mai)

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Before starting, prepare about 100 g of cooked rice mixed with 1 teaspoon of ground black sesame seeds and a couple pinches of salt. Adjust the ingredients to your taste!
- 2
Round out the mixed sesame rice into a ball and put a circle of white rice on top. Wrap it all up in plastic wrap and adjust the shape. (Make the ears as well)
- 3
Here are the other parts: For the black soot sprite, make a mini rice ball with eyes. The eyes are little circles of cheese topped with round pieces of nori. The nose is a little piece of nori. For the whiskers I used fried pasta. For the belly hairs, pieces of nori.
- 4
I used these cutters to make the parts.
- 5
Put the large rice ball (body) in the bento box. Secure the ears with pasta. Stick on the parts.
- 6
It's a little round Totoro!
- 7
Here's how it looks in the bento.
- 8
You can also make totoro out of bread rolls like this.

Spiral Onigiri Rice Balls Spiral Onigiri Rice Balls
On a day when I was planning to make onigiri, I cut my hand with a vegetable slicer.Since I couldn't touch the rice with my hands, I decided to roll the ingredients and it was surprisingly good.-A tip is to roll tightly. If it's loose, the rice and ingredients will spill out when slicing.-Salt the rice well. Taste before rolling.-Another tip is to wet the knife after each slice to guarantee a clean cut. Penguin Onigir Rice Balls Penguin Onigir Rice Balls
I thought of a way to make cute and easy penguins for bento lunchboxes. This is easy for charaben novices because all it involves is sticking cut-out facial features. The spaghetti strand used to attach the facial parts will soften by the time you're ready to eat, so you can eat it as-is. If you're going to eat it right away, cook or fry the noodles before use. This is my version of the brown rice balls based off a cookbook. You can cover the unique taste of brown rice with the aroma of the sesame and kinako flour. This recipe also works with white rice and mixed grains. if you have any sesame kinako flour mixture left over, you can use it to coat mochi, which is also delicious (soak the mochi in boiling water to cook).
