Charaben: Doraemon Peeking In

I wanted to make a quick and easy Doraemon, so I made him look like he was peeking in through a door.
If you're making a bento, you just have to line the bottom with the rice for the door, so it's even more simple! If the rice is too hot, the nori will become soft, so let it cool a bit first. Recipe by Hitomikan1027

Create a door out of the rice. If using a bento box, just line the bottom with rice.
- 2
Cut out a rounded shape of nori and stick it on.
- 3
Make 2 finger-print sized and shaped pieces of cheese and stick on.
- 4
Stick on more nori for the eyes. Give your Doraemon any expression you'd like!
- 5
Add whiskers and a mouth. Make the nose with ketchup or crab sticks.
- 6
If you have time and leftover nori, make a door frame or extra decorations.
- 7
I made one of these for my daughter's breakfast!

Easy Charaben Doraemon with Nori Seaweed Easy Charaben Doraemon with Nori Seaweed
My child danced the part of Doraemon in his kindergarten class, so I tried making this.In Step 3, crispy nori seaweed just out of the package splits easily and is hard to fold in half, so take it out in advance and soften using the steam from a boiling kettle. Recipe by momo** cookpad.japan -
Kumamon Charaben Kumamon Charaben
This is for my child's bento. He loves Kumamon so I made this for him. He was so happy. It's basically a round onigiri, so it's very easy to prepare. Just keep an eye on the relative sizes of the parts when you put them on the onigiri. Compare the sizes of the eyes and paws by lining them up against the main onigiri and adjusting accordingly. For Charaben, Luigi from Super Mario Brothers For Charaben, Luigi from Super Mario Brothers
My sons love Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart. I made a simplified Mario bento which they loved! So, I tried making Luigi too.Add the ketchup to the rice sparingly...otherwise Luigi will have a sunburned face. Scrape out the L on the cap in Step 6. Luigi may be easier than Mario to make.Make Luigi's face a bit longer with gentler features than Mario; well that's my image of him anyway. Recipe by Pyonmachato cookpad.japan -

Super Mario Toad (Kinopio) For Charaben (Decorative Bentos) Super Mario Toad (Kinopio) For Charaben (Decorative Bentos)
My second son is really into Super Mario 3D Land. Making Mario looked difficult, so I made cute Toad (Kinopio) instead. He was quite happy with that. (LOL)I microwave the rice for 20 seconds after Step 1 to blend flavors. (It depends on how I'm feeling that day.) To make a larger version of the mushroom cap pattern, you can stick nori on the red outer part of crabsticks. The crabstick comes apart easily so handle it carefully. I stick the various parts on using a bit of ketchup on the end of a toothpick as glue. For 1 serving. Recipe by Pyonmachato cookpad.japan -

I wondered if I could make cute bento characters using Korokoro wiener sausages. The nori seaweed parts are very small, so they may be difficult to cut without a nori punch (a gadget to cut shapes out of nori seaweed). You could use a strand of spaghetti baked in a toaster oven for the whiskers.
