The very Chocolate 🍫 version of the same is known as the 'Champurrado' & is another equally popular traditional drinks, besides this ‘Atolè de Masa’

Both these drinks are the best & perfect accompaniments on any wintry days or nights mostly however is equally endeared throughout the year too...!!!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 CupCornflour/Meal
  • 1.5-2 CupsWater: RT
  • 1/8 tspSalt
  • 1/2 CupFine or Castor Sugar
  • 1Cinnamon Stick
  • 1.5-2 CupsFresh Milk: Boiled & RT
  • as neededGarnish: Cinnamon Powder Sprinkles

    In a mixing bowl: Add in the water & the Cornflour/meal first & whisk well without any lumps, until nicely dissolved, combined & well blended

    Now, sieve this mixture on a saucepan or pot over the medium flame while stirring continuously immediately it’s all sieved in, add in the cinnamon stick

    Keep stirring continuously to avoid any lumps forming- Once it starts thickening, remove it from the heat & set aside for the time being

    Take another pot/saucepan & add in the milk to it & heat over the medium flame as well...once it starts boiling, turn off the flame & pour it to the already prepared Masa/Cornflour mixture, stirring well

    Add in the sugar to it now, Stir well vigorously until, nicely combined & well incorporated...Put it back to the oven again over the medium flame, stirring continuously until it turns out into a nice & thick mixture

    Put off the flame...Pour it into the drinkable glasses/cups/tumblers or similar...ENJOY 😋 it absolutely piping hot with your choicest cookies or so called Mexican Tamalé (if you can prepare that too), a perfect accompaniment on the wintry days/evenings/nights
