Soak kala chana or black chickpeas overnight. Next day drain water and wrap in a wet kitchen towel to sprout for 2 days or use a sprout maker.If you don't want to sprout, then just soak 8 to 10 hours and boil.The difference is sprouting increases its nutritional value.Chop finely tomato,cucumber,onion,green chillies and coriander.Boil potato and chop into cubes.

Pressure cook chana with 1/4 th tsp salt and 1 pinch baking soda upto 3 whistles. Release pressure after 3 minutes.Heat 1 tbsp oil and sprinkle cumin seeds.When they sizzle,add potato and lightly fry.Add chana and toss.Then add tomato,onion,cucumber,green chillies,chaat masala,roasted cumin powder,red chilli powder and salt to taste.Mix all and saute for 2 minutes.Finallly add lemon juice and chopped coriander and toss.

Serve healthy kala chana or black chickpeas chaat in breakfast or as a snack with a cup of tea or coffee.
