Vietnamese Banh Mi Sandwich

When I bought this off an elderly gentleman on the side of the road from his bike, he pulled out a jar and topped it up with something that looked like the sweet vinegar salad we eat for New Year's Feasts in Japan. I was a bit hesitant at first but when I took a bite it tasted amazing! Please give it a try too!

You don't have to use liver paste if you don't like it. Even some Vietnamese people don't use it. Recipe by Nooko

  2. 2 tbspLiver paste (optional)
  3. 2 sliceHam
  4. 1 dashMayonnaise (optional)
  5. 1Lettuce, cucumber
  6. 1 dashCoriander (or parsley)

Steps

    Please use liver paste, liver paté, or liver spread. I used canned liver spread.

    Prepare some vinegared Vietnamese salad. You can make this with Japanese ingredients if that's easier.

    Crisply toast the baguette and spread the inside with the liver paste and mayonnaise.

    Add in the cucumber, ham, namasu, and lettuce. The sandwich is ready to eat.

    This sandwich tastes great with a little fish sauce, soy sauce or Vietnamese sauce.
