Ingredients

10 people
  1. 3onions, chopped
  2. 3garlic cloves, minced
  3. Oil
  4. 3 kgchicken pieces
  5. 1 packetbrown onion soup
  6. 1 cupchicken stock
  7. 3potatoes, chopped
  8. 5carrots, peeled and chopped
  9. 500 gmushrooms, halved
  10. 10patty pans, quartered
  11. 10baby marrow, chopped
  12. 1 packetcream of chicken soup

Steps

4 hours
  1. 1

    Heat a potjie with oil. Fry the chopped onions and minced garlic. Once brown remove from pot.

  2. 2

    Add oil and brown the chicken pieces. Once the chicken is brown add the fried onions and garlic back

  3. 3

    Add and mix the brown onion soup, cream of chicken soups and 4 cups of water.

  4. 4

    Add potatoes and carrots.

  5. 5

    Cook for 3 hours.

  6. 6

    Add baby marrows and patty pans.

  7. 7

    Add mushrooms 30mins later and cook for a further 30mins.

  8. 8

    Serve over rice or barley.

It looks more then a stew? Shouldn’t it be a layered with different vegetables an your meat of choice? It looks delicious.
