Ingredients

5-7 mins. Prep
2-3 servings
  • 2-3Tomatoes: Blanched & Puréed
  • 4-5Whole Dry Red Chillies: Soaked in Warm Water for about 30 mins time
  • 2Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tspSalt or To Taste
  • 1/4 tspCumin Seeds
  • 1 tbspFresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 CupFresh Coriander Leaves: Roughly Chopped
  • 1Handful: Fresh Mint Leaves- Roughly Chopped (Optional, but I’ve used it & it turned out really good)
  • 1 PinchSugar: Optional (I did use it)
  • 1/2 tspSumac Powder
  • 1/2 tspZa’atar Mix: Optional (I’ve used it)

Steps

5-7 mins. Prep
  1. 1

    In a blender jar or food processor: Add in all the ingredients aforesaid and pulse or blitz it a few times…
    Try not to add in any additional water to it…
    It should never be too thin at all or perfectly smooth enough-
    Best to do it in the mortal-pestle, however I’ve done it in the blender jar itself but didn’t run it, instead had pulsed it a few times to get to this consistency level

    The very consistency need be a bit coarse and thick enough and not at all smooth completely nor should it be runny…
    The consistency shown herein is absolutely perfect & alluringly gorgeous looking -
    Garnish it your own way & relish having this SPICY DELISH from the Arabic Lands…
