Shiro-an paste (White sweet bean paste)

Our runner beans are grown so big. Harvested all of them. Took out the seeds (beans) from their pots. Some for the next year and some that I decided to make Japanese bean past.

Steps
- 1
Big beans from the runner beans.
- 2
Skin off beans and boiled until soft.
You also make this from a tined butter bean. (See my old recipe in Cookpad) - 3
Drain and add sugar and a pinch of salt. If you like sweet ones, add more sugar. Bring to the boil and then medium heat. Stir occasionally.
- 4
Boil the beans to the desired hardness.
- 5
You can make Japanese wagashi sweets or bake a cake, pie etc with this sweet Shiro-an paste.
