Easy Stick Pies for Christmas

I was thinking about snacks to serve during Christmas time. They're like candy canes made with pastry instead.
The aluminum foil sticks to the puff pastry slightly when it's fresh out of the oven. This makes it prone to breaking. Use a spoon or spatula to remove it neatly. Recipe by Genpokin.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Defrost the puff pastry. Chop the nuts and combine with granulated sugar and cocoa powder. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F.
- 2
Brush a generous amount of egg whites on the puff pastry. Sprinkle the nuts-and-sugar mixture from Step 1. Cover with another puff pastry with egg whites spread on the inner side.
- 3
Stretch the puff pastry with a rolling pin until they're about 1.5 times the original width. Cut into eighths and spread egg white on the surface.
- 4
Twist into candy cane shapes. Press with your fingers to secure the shape.
- 5
Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown. Transfer onto a paper towel and let cool down to finish.
- 6
You could use almonds, peanuts, or other kinds of nuts instead of hazelnuts.

You can easily make this by just using regular puff pastry sheets, but modifying their shape makes them a lot easier to enjoy! I wanted to make something that was easy to eat and that children could hold in their hands without any hassle.Be careful not to overfill the dough with the filling (I accidentally did this -- lol) because this can make the folding / wrapping process a lot more difficult. As for when you're cutting the pastry sheets, make sure to cut them gently without touching them too much. They'll puff up more evenly that way. Remember that there is egg yolk coated on the inside, so you don't have to overdo it with the fork! Recipe by Toiroiro cookpad.japan -

I just thought I would make this recipe so when a lot of people come to a party, there's enough pie to go around. When using the frozen puff pastry for steps 5 - 7, only take 1 sheet of pastry out of the fridge at a time. If they become soft they will be too hard to cut. For step 8, keep the rest of the frozen puff pastry in the freezer and take it out while the previous batch is still baking. Repeat this until all of the pastry has been used.If you split your apple chunks into 4 parts, you will have the perfect amount for each batch of pies. Recipe by Dockinoko cookpad.japan -
