Real Chinese-style Shrimp with Mayo (Aurora Sauce)

Shrimp with aurora sauce is so delicious that my family enjoys eating it with an ample helping of vegetables. If you skin the cucumber, the color really softens the look of the dish and brings it up a notch, but you can leave the skin on. Be careful not to use too much sauce so as not to lose the crispy texture.
You can also easily whip up the condensed milk for the aurora sauce by hand at home. []
For the amount called for in this recipe, please boil down 100 ml of milk plus one tablespoon of sugar. If you overcook the shrimp, they will shrink and harden. Please be careful. Recipe by Heartful Kitchen Rei

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Peel the shrimp, leaving the tail on. Make a shallow slice along the back and devein.
- 2
Coat the shrimp with salt and katakuriko (not listed in ingredients). The katakuriko will absorb the dirt and smell.
- 3
Rinse under running water. If the water looks blackish, it's dirty. This step takes a little bit of time but helps ensure nice-tasting shrimp.
- 4
[Aurora sauce] Mix together the ingredients for the aurora sauce. If you don't have any condensed milk, make some.
- 5
Store-bought condensed milk can vary in sweetness, so please adjust it to your taste. You can use tomato paste instead of ketchup for a less sweet sauce.
- 6
Peel the cucumber and slice into slightly thick strips. Soak them in water to crisp them, then dry them off and spread them out on a dish.
- 7
Dry off the shrimp with a paper towel and season with the ingredients marked ●.
- 8
Put a good amount of oil in a frying pan and pan fry the shrimp.
- 9
Flip and fry the other side, as well. Once the shrimp have become fluffy and crispy, take them out of the oil and let them rest on top of some paper towel sheets so their excess oil can get absorbed. They will cook quickly, so be careful not to overcook them.
- 10
Gently mix the sauce into the cooked shrimp.
- 11
Place them on top of the cucumber and you're finished. It looks so good.

Shrimp with Chilli Sauce or Mayonnaise Sauce Shrimp with Chilli Sauce or Mayonnaise Sauce
I sometimes feel like eating Chinese food, but I don't make it much since it's quite high in oil. I tried to make this dish as oil-free as possible.Sweet chilli sauce is the key to this dish. I used homemade mayonnaise this time. If you serve this dish with finely shredded cabbage it will make the dish itself lighter. You don't want to waste even the shells of the shrimp. They will yield good flavour to the dish. When you discard the shells they are cooked so they won't be so smelly. Recipe by Kukkuri cookpad.japan -
Shrimp in Chili-Mayonnaise Sauce Shrimp in Chili-Mayonnaise Sauce
I wanted to eat plump shrimp, so I made this. I use lots of shrimp mayonnaise sauce and it is a bit spicy, so adjust the amount and spiciness to your preference.-When shelling the shrimp, crushing the tail several times with your finger will allow you to cleanly shell them all the way to the tail.-Thoroughly coating the shrimp in katakuriko and fragrantly cooking the breading in lots of oil will yield a rich and delicious shrimp and mayo dish without having to deep fry. The izakaya my husband goes to a lot serves shrimp-mayonnaise with a sauce that contains a little ginger. I tried it and it was delicious, so I copied it.You just need a tiny bit of garlic. Maybe less than 1 gram is all you need. You need about the same amount of ginger juice too. This 'hidden flavor' is what makes the sauce so good.If you slit the back of the shrimp, they open up and look bigger than in reality. Low-Calorie Shrimp Stir-Fry in Chili Mayo Sauce Low-Calorie Shrimp Stir-Fry in Chili Mayo Sauce
I love classic, creamy shrimp mayo, but mayonnaise plus condensed milk has way too many calories for my daughter and me. I didn't omit the mayo from this shrimp mayo dish and I substituted sweet chili sauce for the milk; It's still delicious. If you want to reduce the sweetness, you can substitute for the chili sauce. For children, you can use half the amount of sweet chili sauce and ketchup for the other half, creating a cute, pink-colored shrimp mayo dish with reduced spiciness. If you overcook the shrimp they will get hard and shrink, so quickly remove from heat and dress them. Recipe by Heartful Kitchen Rei cookpad.japan -
Thrifty Mock Shrimp in Mayonnaise Sauce (with Okara) Thrifty Mock Shrimp in Mayonnaise Sauce (with Okara)
I wanted to make a side dish with okara dumplings. Since my family didn't realize they were okara, I decided to post this recipe here.Make your dumplings into a donut-shape so that they resemble peeled shrimp. Since the hole shrinks when they are cooked, make it slightly larger. Adjust the amount of milk according to the consistency of the mixture. You can also use 150 g tofu (no need to drain) instead of milk. The dumplings will become hard when they are cold, so please enjoy them freshly cooked. Recipe by Yunyatomomo cookpad.japan
