Ingredients

  1. 1 cupwater
  2. 1/4 cup (56 g)unsalted butter
  3. 1 Tbspgranulated sugar
  4. 1/4 tspsalt
  5. 1 cupall-purpose flour
  6. 1large egg
  7. 1/2 tspvanilla extract
  8. Vegetable oil, for frying

  1. 1

    Add water, butter, sugar and salt to a large saucepan, bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Add flour reduce heat to medium-low and cook and stir constantly with a rubber spatula until mixture comes together and is smooth

  3. 3

    Transfer mixture to a large mixing bowl, let cool 5 minutes.
    Add vanilla and egg to flour mixture and mix with your spatula till it’s combined and everything is smooth

  4. 4

    Transfer to a 16-inch piping bag fitted with a rounded star tip (no bigger than 1/2-inch).

  5. 5

    Preheat oil till it’s hot and reduce heat ;

  6. 6

    Carefully pipe mixture into preheated oil, into about 6-inch lengths, cut end with clean scissors.

  7. 7

    You can decide to pipe it down on a parchment paper and place in the oil one after the other

  8. 8

    Let fry until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer to paper towels to dry briefly

  9. 9

    Serve warm with ice cream or transfer to cinnamon sugar mixture and roll to coat.
