Chana dal tadka goes well with fried rice and chutney. It is healthy and nutritious dal in winters.

Wash and Soak chana Daal for 10 minutes. Transfer it in a pressure cooker. Add water, salt and turmeric powder and mix well and cook for 5 minutes after first whistle. Switch off the flame and let pressure releases automatically.

Heat ghee in a wok. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter put finely chopped onions and ginger and fry till golden brown colour. Add tomato puree and cook till oil leaves the sides. Add red chilli powder and asafetida and cook for 2 minutes. Add 1/2 bowl of water.

Add boiled dal and mix properly and cook till dal boils.

Add chopped coriander leaves and coriander seeds powder and mix well and cook for 2 minutes.

Serve this chana dal tadka with onion Tomato pulao and pudina and peanut chutney.
