Ingredients

Serves 3 to 4 servings
  • 3-4fresh dinner rolls (pav)
  • 2medium onions
  • 2-3tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoonsoil (30 ml)
  • 1 tablespooncumin seeds
  • 1 1/2 tablespoonsginger-garlic-chili paste
  • 1 tablespoonred chili powder
  • 1 tablespoonKashmiri red chili powder
  • 1/2 tablespoonturmeric powder
  • 1 tablespooncoriander powder
  • 1 tablespoonmisal pav masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 bowlboiled moth beans (about 1 cup, 150 grams)
  • 2 tablespoonslemon juice (30 ml)
  • Farsan (Indian snack mix), as needed for topping

Steps

    Finely chop the onions and tomatoes. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.

    Add the onions and sauté. When they soften a bit, add the ginger-garlic-chili paste and sauté.

    Add the tomatoes and salt. Once the tomatoes soften, add both types of chili powder.

    Add the remaining spices. In a pressure cooker, cook the moth beans for 3 to 4 whistles until soft.

    Lightly mash the cooked moth beans. Add them to the pan and cook together.

    Add lemon juice. Your tasty misal is ready. Top with farsan and serve with pav (dinner rolls).
