Mati alu /Khamba alu /Yam is the biggest potato category vegetables, in the world. In Hindi it is known as 'Khamalu' or 'Chupri'. It contains nutrients like potassium, load of fiber and vitamin C , vitamin B6 for our health benefits. I have used amchur powder and roasted cumin powder to bring flavour and taste. Red chili powder develop the colour and rice powder brings the crispiness to fried yam.

Ingredients

15 minutes
2-3 servings
  • 200 gramYam
  • 1/3 Tspturmeric powder
  • as per tasteSalt
  • 1/3 Tspamchur powder
  • 1/3 Tspred chilli powder
  • 1/4 Tspdry ginger powder
  • 1 Tbsprice powder
  • as requiredCooking oil to fry
  • 1/2 Tsproasted cumin powder

Steps

15 minutes
  1. 1

    Remove the skin. Chop them and then wash more than once to remove stickiness.

    Mix dry masalas like turmeric powder, chilli powder, amchur powder, dry ginger powder and cost well the chopped yam. Marinate for 15 minutes.

    Then coat with salt and rice powder. Heat oil and fry the yam/suran/yam in batches.

    Sprinkle roasted cumin powder and serve as with steamed rice or as snacks.
