Simba Baigana Besara (Lima beans/Sem Phali & brinjals in mustard paste)

Mustard paste gravy are very common in Bengal and Orissa. This recipe I have adopted from my Mom, try it if you are a Sim lover or you like mustard gravy. Generally it’s paired with plain rice.

Mustard paste gravy are very common in Bengal and Orissa. This recipe I have adopted from my Mom, try it if you are a Sim lover or you like mustard gravy. Generally it’s paired with plain rice.
Steps

Soak 2 spoons mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, chilli, garlic pods for 15 mins. Grind into a smooth paste. Roast the badis and keep.

Cook sim, whole tomato and potato in water, once sim is half cooked add the brinjals and let it cook further. Add salt as per your taste.

Once almost cooked, add the badis and mustard paste and cook for another 2 minutes.

In a pan add 2 tsp mustard oil, hing, mustard seeds and garlic, add the tomato first and mash, then add the cooked veggies and mix well. Add 1 tsp raw mustard oil and chopped coriander leaves on top.
